Turtles In opposition of Rubbish NOW!

T.I.R.N. Beach Cleanup

Welcome! Turtle Island Restoration Network has a new volunteer opportunity for beach clean ups!

The Star Spangled Beach Cleanup was a huge success! We had around 130 volunteers clean up an estimated 1,200 lbs of marine debris! Stay tuned for more holiday clean ups and be sure to stop by Galveston Island Brewing to show your support for our partners.

Did you know? Over 100 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean. Currently, it is estimated that there are 100 million tons of plastic in oceans around the world.
If you would like to help us clean up Galveston, please click here to register.

Our clean ups are designed for small groups, minimum of 10 people, and are located around Galveston Island Monday through Friday with some weekend availability hosted by a member of our Turtle Island Restoration Network Team. Our lead volunteer for this program is Robin K Yates. CLICK HERE to read more about Robin!

When you get on site,  your group leader will give instructions on trash collecting, filling out data cards, and safety guidelines. After the cleanup has been completed, the group leader will instruct the packing up of materials, and the wrap up meeting location at either Turtle Island Restoration Network or Galveston Island Brewing. This meeting will include a brief educational presentation, and a chance to discuss what all was found that day and it's impact on our backyard beach environment.
